
Along with the printer’s unveiling, MOVA AtomForm presented a lively discussion on the past, present, and future of 3D printing from a panel of experts ranging from a Stanford professor to a TikTok creator young enough to be his student. Moderated by presenter Isabelle Du, the panel featured 3D printing TikTok creator Robbie Burch (@robbiedoesthingz), retired Stanford adj. professor Barry Katz, and YouTubers Joel Telling (@3dprintingnerd) and Jerry Gomes (@theprinthouse).
Telling, a prominent 3D printing educator and advocate, joined Gomes in providing a veteran’s perspective on hardware, while Katz, a fellow at IDEO and author of Make it New: A History of Silicon Valley Design , stole the show with his insights on the history of design, the dangers of copyright regulations and ponderings on whether we should fear or embrace AI in 3D printing.
The presentation also lightly touched on AtomWorld, a website that may be like Prusa’s Printables or Bambu’s MakerWorld to host model files. Though they did not go into great detail, it was mentioned that 3D designers would be compensated in cash for their efforts.

itcures The 12-nozzle swapping system represents a compelling concept which brings forth its most interesting aspect. The technology achieves its claimed results through its design which minimizes filament waste while enhancing the speed of multi-color printing. The existing systems use purging processes which result in excessive material waste but the new method shows distinct advantages. I need to see actual testing results before I can believe the claims. The demo units already seemed pretty early-stage, and a mechanism this complex (swapping and aligning multiple nozzles precisely) could introduce reliability or calibration issues over time. The new system shows potential as an advancement but its ability to challenge established competitors Bambu and Prusa depends on its performance in real-world situations. Reply
jp7189 Im not sold on this idea. This saves what.. a cm or two of filament from below the heatbreak in exchange for complicated mechanicals, and as @itcures points out, possible alignment issues. I can't imagine a calibration routine wouldn't be required with every swap in order to get perfect alignment with the layer below. Still.. I love to hear news of people trying new things. Even if I dont think this idea will be successful, the more people hear about crazy new ideas, the more it might spark ideas of their own. Reply
