Good news if you're an Apple MacBook Pro fan; Apple's latest 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 processor has had a hefty $300 knocked off the list price. You can find the Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 at B&H Photo for just $1499 . This is the cheapest we've seen this laptop since its launch late last year, and $300 cheaper than if you tried to buy an identically specced machine direct from Apple online. This model of the MacBook Pro 14 features Apple's M5 chip with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, and comes with a configuration that includes 24GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a crisp 3024 x 1964 pixel liquid retina XDR display. All wrapped in a gorgeous Space Black chassis.
Apple's hardware refresh of the 14-inch MacBook Pro upgrades the main processor from the M4 to the M5, providing a significant boost in CPU performance over the M4 chip found in 2024’s base 14-inch MacBook Pro. Along with the improvements in the CPU, there is also a significant uplift in SSD performance, with the SSD operating at around 2.5 times the speed of a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, achieving 6000 MB/s in both read and write speeds.
The MacBook Pro 14 comes with a familiar selection of ports on both sides of the chassis, which include three Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full-size SDXC card reader, an HDMI 2.1 port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a MagSafe 3 connector.
The latest MacBook Pro has a 10-core M5 chip and a 14-inch 3024 x 1964 pixel liquid retina XDR display. This model comes in "Space Black" and has 24GB of unified memory, with a 512GB SSD for storage.
We had the chance to review the MacBook Pro 14-Inch and found that the M5 chip delivers solid performance gains over its M4 predecessor. The SSD performance has greatly improved, and the rocking speaker system is still a cut above similar laptops from competitors. However, the MacBook Pro doesn't come with Wi-Fi 7, even though the Apple N1 chip is available in other devices. In our benchmark testing, the MacBook Pro's M5 CPU delivered between a 10 to 20% improvement over the prior generation's M4 chip in CPU performance.

The multi-core score also saw an uplift to 17,926 versus 15,114 on the M4, slightly over an 18% performance improvement.
