uplink-svk Was eyeing these cards since the first concept render appeared. I wonder only about three things. Whether there'll be two variants, both Air and Hybrid. How much will each SKU cost and its real availability. E.g. The Red P*nis is widely unavailable and with faulty cutout for power connector, looks like a sc*long and costs a fortune. Let's hope that MSi won't ruin anything in that department 🤞🏻🍀🚫🔥 Konomi said: So I guess we can say this GPU is twice as fire as the other ones. Where You see twice as much fire hazard possibility, I see load balancing ⚡️🔋🧠 Reply
aberkae This is the 5k 5090 rumors probably were hinting at but misinformation trolls ran with mass hysteria! Reply

I'm a dumb enthusiast, but even I have my standards and limits. I'm not willing to participate in this cartel game . If it's gonna be VRAM that'll push the price over the proverbial edge, I don't care anymore, that'll be it for me. Btw. do You think there exist people out there buying 96GB kits for 3000 euroshekels? I purchased 96GB Dominator kit for 467e back in 2024 and was rightly called absolutely batguano crazy. Now it's 3000e+. I wonder whether there's at least one person loony enough to shell out 3000 reasons for the very same kit… Reply
Notton I only see 2 shunt resistors per connector, so I guess it has 4 power rails? Kinda hard to discern without high resolution PCB images. The 5090 Suprim uses 2 shunt resistors, and it still melts its 12V-2×6, despite having 100% more shunts than the 5080/5090 FE. Reply
SomeoneElse23 What's insane is the 5090 prices are only going up. $2000 for one is a deal now, if you don't mind paying for fire insurance and having a fire extinguisher in your room. I can't imagine this going for less than $4000, MSRP BD. Reply

Nah, this issue won't be solved/go away that "easily" by anything less than full connector circuits monitoring as Asus has, or now MSi on their new MEG PSUs, due to the inherently faulty nature of the physical pin layout in both connector and the business end of the cable. You'd need per 12V rail fully separated path in order to avoid fire hazard, even two rails per one path/shunt may lead to fire hazard, when one pin will push through only 1AMP and the other will be left with 15AMPs at full load. It's an extreme hypothetical, but still possible. PCi-SiG could use something like xt60 or even xt80 instead of the 12VHPWR/12V2x6 circus joke, but… SomeoneElse23 said: What's insane is the 5090 prices are only going up. $2000 for one is a deal now, if you don't mind paying for fire insurance and having a fire extinguisher in your room.
