SirStephenH Things are only getting worse with Trump shutting down every major energy project set to come online within the next few years because they don't burn coal or gas. There's nothing set to replace them and the market doesn't want additional coal or gas plants. Reply
ezst036 These tech leaders think they're hot stuff and have all this power and influence and maybe they do in some ways. But not here. They're going to find out very quickly about the morass that has stopped the U.S. from building practically zero new energy generation over the last several decades. It'll be fun to watch the big tech hot shots get humbled over this. There will be no new energy generating happening. I wish there would be, but I'm old enough to know. Americans aren't having it. Sam would be better served to invest his money in GE stock, the tech leaders are going to need more turbines. Reply

bit_user rgd1101 said: they worth billion. it is all funny money anyway. Their valuation is ultimately based on projections of future revenue. But, building infrastructure requires real money , which they're still losing . So, they would have to load up on debt (or divert existing rounds of investment away from buying GPUs and cloud services from Microsoft), in order to fund any infrastructure, which their investors obviously don't want to see. TL;DR: they'd only fund this infrastructure themselves, as an absolute last resort. From their perspective, it'd be much better if you can get the US taxpayer (or electricity rate payers) to fund it. BTW, I mentioned they buy cloud services from Microsoft, who is investing in power generation for their data centers. So, in an indirect sort of way, you might say Open AI is contributing to their power generation needs. But, I'm sure that's just a small % of the total generation capacity they want added. Reply
