If you've been looking to upgrade from a basic, office monitor to a more feature-rich model, or are somehow just stepping into the hobby and need a display that does justice to your setup, we've spotted just the deal for you. Samsung's newest entry in its G5 lineup, the G50D is on sale for only $229 on Amazon right now, down 47% from its price of over $400.
For those looking for a straightforward, high refresh rate gaming experience with no overkill features, the G50D is a perfect investment at just $229. You get a massive 32-inch display with that 1440p 180Hz combo that's the sweet spot for most games out there; not too hard for your GPU to render but sharp enough to stand out.
There's no denying that at its original ask the G50D is a poor deal since you can find various Mini-LED and even some entry-level OLED monitors around that point. But at $229, the story changes quite a bit. For starters, this is a 32-inch display; not the 27-inchers you usually see everywhere. You're getting a Fast IPS panel running at 1440p resolution with a 180 Hz refresh rate instead of a budget VA screen.
That means no black smearing or weird ghosting issues, and Samsung even includes a barebones local dimming feature onboard with 8 edge-lit zones that can help with contrast levels. Those zones enable a somewhat faithful HDR400 rating, and the monitor's EOTF tracking is very accurate. You also get FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility for tear-free gaming and Samsung advertises 1ms gray-to-gray response times.
G50D is rocking a sleek design as well, with a blacked-out aesthetic and a stand that features "superb ergonomics" according to Rtings. It has all the adjustment options you could need and is built very well, just like the monitor itself. You won't find any crazy specs or super color-accurate numbers on this unit, but if you're just after a solid gaming monitor or even a stopgap before you jump to a high-end OLED — Samsung's G5 G50D for $229.99 is a great deal for most gamers out there.
