For example, the most affordable GeForce RTX 5070 on the market currently sells for $629 , which is 9% more expensive than the GeForce RTX 4070 Super and delivers marginally better performance. There's also the topic of features, though. While Nvidia has expanded some of its technologies backwards to Ada Lovelace, such as DLSS 4.5, some features are only fully enabled on Blackwell. Take Multi-Frame Generation, which runs up to 6X on Blackwell but is restricted to 2X on these cards. A quick glance at our GPU hierarchy shows how these cards stack up against newer models for raw performance:

But in the current situation, you can't deny that Ada Lovelace offers good value even if it's a previous-generation product.

Generally agree, but 8gb is fine if you don't play AAA titles. I easily get away with 8gb, in my laptop, because I only play WoW, for instance. I never see more than around 6gb of vram usage. Reply
Rand0m_Guy Trying to figure out how this is a "deal". I bought my 7900XTX for $799 coming up on almost 3 years ago. That includes 6% reward for the amazon purchase and Starfield bundle. If you arent doing ray tracing, the 7900XTX beats the rtx4080, for over $300 less and its a 3 year old card! Reply
PSUpower What's the point of even mentioning 4090 and its price? Yeah, i know: it sits on top of the RTX-40 series and it's still the second best GPU on paper. However, I was under the impression that the card itself has been MIA since fall 2024. If i'm not much mistaken, you can't even find it on a pre-built rig. Reply
CeltPC Ridiculous to portray these prices for an rtx-4080 as anything close to a good deal. I bought one over three years ago at the the same price. And they had been ripping people off on 40 series prices much worse? What a farcical time to shop for graphics cards! Reply
DataMeister Where did the stock come from? Are these cards still being manufactured or is it old inventory that was sitting in a warehouse somewhere? Reply

Yeah, 7900 XTX is a pretty good GPU. It's the cheapest 24 GB card on the market. However, apart from Ray Tracing, it has the downside of being unsupported for FSR 4. I certainly hope that AMD will change that in the future. Reply

From what I understand Valve is out there encouraging game developers to properly optimize their games to work better under the 8gb threshold. Not just because of self interest with the GabeCube, but also the DRAM crunch makes it a simple reality. None of us can keep up, so then the game developers need to pipe down and recognize the 8gb reality that isn't going to go away any time soon. Reply
