Writing about the above reminded me of another of Germany’s special laws that impacted video games. Until the 2010s, the country’s Youth Protection Laws often meant that publishers would swap red blood for green or blue blood, to limbo under certain content age-ratings, or avoid censor delays. But that’s another story.

call101010 Why would you want to sell a game that enjoys killing Germans in Germany ? Regardless of Nazis or not .. they are still Germans , and soldiers in Germany were not subhuman nor evil , they just followed their political leaders orders in the Army … The same American soldiers cant refuse order if they disagree with the leaders politics. like war crimes that happened in Vietnam or Iraq or Afghanistan or Latin America etc … you need to respect other nations feelings. It's just a game mocking history by letting you kill Nazis… Did you even read the part about German players finding the voice overs comical? They're obviously not offended. Edgy games have been around for a very long time now. Something tells me you're not really into gaming if you can't handle this old concept. Go play Hitman, Manhunt, GTA, and Hatred and then cry a river about "killing humans". Reply

Nazi vs NotNazi was a bit more than just politics. 2. "I was just following orders" did not work. And would not work now. Reply

No German could refuse orders… the SS would lynch them and skin them alive . Reply
Shiznizzle The original Medal of Honor game on the PS1 used real germans and used real german. As a fully fluent german speaker, living in the central california bay area at the time, i found it funny that i was the only one who ever understood what they said in the game. And i truly mean from the bottom of my heart when i say that what was said in the game was truly funny. This was the opposite of all that came before were germans were not used so what came out of their mouths was horrible and insulting. I am watching it in the background on youtube since it also had a great soundtrack Reply
