However, the biggest challenge quad-rank CUDIMM memory kits and consumers face is the persistent global memory shortage. Memory prices have already skyrocketed, and there appears to be no end in sight. That alone is enough to kill any momentum that quad-rank CUDIMMs can generate.

usertests DDR5 already enabled a single 64GB memory module, and now quad-rank DDR5 has upped it to 128GB, a twofold increase. It wouldn't surprise us if the capacity eventually reaches 256GB. I think we'll see at least 96 GB "mainstream" DDR5 UDIMMs before the gen is over, so at least 192 GB quad-rank is likely. Reply
Shiznizzle "Unveiled at Computex 2026, with DDR5 memory modules up to 128GB each, achieving up to 256GB (2x128GB) on a dual-DIMM motherboard has become a reality for the mass market." Reality? Sure. Affordable to most? Not a chance in hell. They are not likely to recoup the investment on the R&D. At least not any time soon. Lets see if they even exist as a company in two years time. Reply
reflex25 Very interesting. Matches the speed of the soldered on RAM in AMD's Strix Halo "modules". As it happens we were early adopters of these in HP kit and it's impressive and price was reasonable . OTOH you are stuck with what you ordered… Reply
