hwertz Well it's been in the tech news recently that Oracle is being expected to cough up $3 billion in Wisconsin, it's not a direct rate increase for them and decrease for others but rather they must fund the grid and generation capacity for their data center rather than pushing it onto all rate holders. PowerEngineer This is really irresponsible journalism and I'd expect better. A popular tech news site has a responsibility to clarify technical issues in a way the average person can understand. This article points to a young person implying something on social media and a 5 mile proximity to a data center as evidence that this line is caused by data center. That is almost nothing. Is the line even closely networked to the data center? These could be two disconnected radial systems for all we know. If a line is already getting easements, it's likely been being studied for a few years now. Which was proposed first, the transmission line or the data center? Look the current data center build out deserves skepticism and careful watching, but scaremongering about necessary infrastructure improvements is irresponsible. I'm not saying it's impossible they're related, but the information provided is not enough to draw that conclusion. Do better. Reply

I missed that, thanks for pointing it out. I see the link to a fortune article that links to a CBS article that shows this. I still think the one piece of solid information that makes the main claim made an the article hold up to scrutitiny should be included in the article, not in a reference.
