chaos215bar2 Took them long enough. Now, why is this company still allowed to sell its junk anywhere else? They literally call the product an "AC", and yet all it is is a weak fan. And they pull out all the stops with high pressure sales tactics. It's one of the most obvious scam products I've ever seen, and yet it's been on sale for a couple years under one name or another, I keep hearing about it, and no one with the power to stop sales seems to care until now. TechieTwo They get away with these scams because authorities never really punish the perps. SOS, DD. :disappointed: Reply

das_stig Many advertised on Youtube and reported as scams, even with videos show the scams, yet still there, as YT don't care, it's all about profit and regulators are useless ! Reply

kurkosdr This is the result of the Western education system producing educated idiots with lots of theoretical knowledge but zero practical knowledge of how the theory is applied in the real world. For example, kids will be taught thermodynamics in high school but some of them will never learn that an air conditioner needs to have a "hot side" (either as an external-facing radiator or as a hose venting hot air to the outside) to work. As to why the perpetrators of these scams aren't punished, it's because they operate from East Whatever and send the packages via mail-order, so the customer is theoretically the importer. Reply

Maybe, but one should not have had to score well in physics in order to avoid being scammed. I would argue the bigger problem is that people are not properly taught how to evaluate whether information is trustworthy. That's a life skill that no one should be without, and yet one in which possibly the majority of the population seems to be lacking. If all a person is capable of understanding is product marketing, it's possible to sell them nearly everything if it comes in a shiny package. Teach someone to stop, spend an hour reading up on the kind of product they're looking to buy and actually try to compare specs and price against a competitor, and hopefully they might notice the scam. Although, products like this which are clearly mislabeled vs, what they actually do should probably just be rejected at customs. (Along with all the cheap, uncertified, junk level electrical equipment places like Amazon sell while claiming zero responsibility when it shorts and burns down your house.) Reply

Key considerations

  • Investor positioning can change fast
  • Volatility remains possible near catalysts
