If you’re looking for the simplest explanation as to why AMD EXPO ULL memory kits carry a hefty premium over regular AMD EXPO memory kits, it boils down to the extensive optimization and meticulous binning process involved in their production. Memory vendors spend more time testing and sorting memory chips that can operate at the tightest timings and lowest voltages. It’s a very time-consuming and labor-intensive process. As a result, the overall manufacturing costs for EXPO ULL kits are higher than for standard kits. In many ways, you aren’t just paying a premium for the hardware itself, but also for the vendor’s time and the guarantee that the memory modules run at near-maximum potential right out of the box.

thestryker While I'm certainly not defending the pricing it's pretty obvious why it is what it is: these are using new memory IC. You can tell by the fact that they've got aggressive timings and lower tRAS while requiring 0.1V less power. I think what this pricing tells us more than anything else is what we can expect down the road as existing stock gets sold. Reply

Makaveli lmao $1,099 for a 32GB kit no thanks I will stick to manual tuning of my memory. Reply

Zaranthos If Nvidia can get away with it why can't we all? Just say but, but, the AI and supply and demand. Honestly even before that scalpers proved people would pay insane prices to be the first to get stuff. I won't pay those prices, but somebody surely will. Reply

derekullo On a superficial level, this articles boils down to we don't know. Reply
