AMD seems to have done a better job than Nvidia at keeping prices in check later in the RDNA4 generation. Can they deliver a worthy upgrade to the 9070 XT? You can't count on it. They can compete with the 6090 if they try but you have to keep your expectations low. Reply
Notton I'm more curious to know how much uplift in gaming performance RDNA5 has over 3 and 3.5. I was hesitant of Arc B390 at first, considering how less advanced the packaging was compared to Lunar Lake, but it delivered. I would hope RDNA 5 gives better improvements because RDNA 3.5 is kinda sucking hard compared to B390 right now. Reply

From the beginning AMD never confirmed the RDNA5 generation would be replaced by UDNA1. They were coy about when the RDNA/CDNA unification would happen. It might be that RDNA5 and UDNA1 are equivalent internally, but we just don't know yet. We should expect RDNA5 to be an unusually important generation since the next-gen consoles are likely to use it with minimal modifications. Making it relevant throughout the entire 2030s. Reply
