alan.campbell99 The first GW to come online first half of 2027? How? I think that's rather optimistic if this is going into a new datacentre build. A lot of projects announced a year or two ago still haven't been completed, stargate abilene being a prime example. Reply
jp7189 The trend I'm seeing, at least in my corner of the world, is farmers are being paid to convert their crop land to solar. Thats a terribly shortsighted idea. Esp. Since solar it not a great choice for datacenter use and doubly so at higher latitudes. Reply
alan.campbell99 Hmm, it could depend on how it's done. There is some success in agrivoltaics, if done right panels can provide shade for stock and perhaps lessen irrigation demands for some crops. I know of one farmer here that's done so, he's also managed to go electric on his machinery and so reduce or eliminate having to use fuels. Reply

Of the 6 that sprung up here in the last year or so, not one is producing any ag product any longer. Reply
