If CXMT can mass-produce LPDDR6 for the whole market and manufacturers, we may well have seen the change of the industry leader. Yet, given one niche device, we certainly cannot say so for now.

gganban How is Xiaomi Phone niche? Niche maybe for the US, but not the rest of the world. A lot of us from around the world uses and adore xiaomi phones. Reply
usertests How hard is it to make LPDDR6? LPDDR5X-10700 was announced in 2024, and that's basically the starting point of LPDDR6 speeds. Reply
Tanakoi To make a minor correction to the article, PAM3 signaling does not 'encode 3 bits across two symbols'. It's a trinary signaling system that encodes log 2 3 bits per cycle, or a total of 3.16 bits/2 cycles. And it's hardly surprising CXMT is progressing so fast, given the monstrous subsidies and aid it's receiving from the Chinese government. Reply

Yeah, unlike the US $280 billion Chips Act. If it's in China, you call it a subsidy, but in the US we should call them what?? "Presents"? "Tips"? "Encouragements"? "Birthday Presents"?? Tell us exactly please. I can't wait for this one!! Reply
Jabberwocky79 Well, that escalated quickly. Feel like I first heard about CXMT about 6 months ago. Reply

Because it has about 10% market share not including the US? It’s like 5th in China and UK and a distant 3rd in the rest of Europe Reply

Wall Street calls it “Quantitative Easing.” Silicon Valley calls it “Acts.” But on the forgotten edges of America, it’s simply “Food Stamps.” Three tiers of the same welfare machine — dignified at the top, disguised in the middle, and stigmatized at the bottom. Not the easiest when so much is changing from LPDDR5(X) to 6, probably the signaling and all changes related to it being the biggest. Speeds alone aren't informative on what it takes to get to the next level of speed, especially once we're talking about laying the foundation for future headroom. Reply
