A 2X performance gap is certainly not something that's easy to close. Who knows just how much is left in the tank for the LX 7G100. Maybe Lisuan Tech has already pushed the hardware to its limits, or maybe some driver magic will put the LX 7G100 a few steps closer to the GeForce RTX 3060 12GB. Only time will tell, and it will be interesting to revisit the LX 7G100 in a few months' time.

Mindstab Thrull It sounds like a bad card – and for most, it is – but considering what they have managed to accomplish without backing from AMD or Nvidia or Intel, colour me impressed. I could see them having something comparable to 4060-ish performance within about five years and maybe close to low-level (50/60 level cards) within ten. I'm interested to see what they do manage to pull off, especially if they manage to do it themselves and not yoinking files from Western companies 😉 Reply

Cassandra4 Well, they've hit a bottleneck somewhere in a microarchitecture, and that's fine. Most likely engineers knew about it even before the chip was released, it just wasn't a blocker, and this particular one will be fixed in a next iteration of the accelerator architecture. Drivers, shader compiler, schedulers, compatibility are as important as the hardware. They've proven that the entire stack works and can cover a substantial portion of the market needs. It won't take them nine years of trial and error exploring which new extension will stick – implementing well defined and standardized API functions is much more straightforward process. Especially if referencing all the studies in what the other players do. Reply
