husker Given the visual similarities, no beer brand should ever want to associate their product with pee. Humor or not, advertising can be quite subliminal. Reply

PEnns I'll drink to that!! That's one cooling for data centers many would agree with, especially in the farmlands! Reply

passivecool For those who value data over polemic: google some thing like 'comparison water usage data centers vs golf courses USA' and then consider how often you use the internet in comparison to how often you golf. There is room for improvement everywhere for sure. And superior solutions must be demanded, by the locality, so that the implementation is not only shareholder value focused, but benefits the locality– not with empty promises but with hard commitments. IMHO in most cases "yes, but…" will lead to a win-win. NIMBY creates a lot of anger and delivers zero results. Apparently a foreign concept, it is called 'negotiation' And yes you need to be sure about both the integrity and competency of your local representatives, who are typically vastly unqualified for this kind of negotiation. Someone will close this gap with an offer, for sure, that is the nature of capitalism. Reply

I've never ever needed a wrong-answer machine to replace previous algorithms and academic resources that I still rely on. Nowadays, I have to do even more work due to the slew of wannabe intellectuals gumming up repos with their hallucinated garbage. Even outside of that, I had my utility bills bumped up by a flat 10%! AI has been the bane of my existence, and it's only going to get worse if there isn't a cap put on this trash! There isn't any negotiation needed between these tech giants and local governing bodies. These data centers provide ZERO/ZILCH/NADA benefits to anyone that isn't in the billionaire's club, and even that is debatable. These resource sinkholes should be dug up by their roots and tossed in the trash. Reply
