Other companies have vastly simplified and minimized their logos, so it seems inevitable that Tux will become a shadow of his or her former self in due course. It is true that a simpler logo for Linux would be good for branding, and a reduced detail/color identity could be a boon for merchandise and makers, too.

mitch074 Linux is a kernel; OSes based on it also have logos (Ubuntu, Fedora, Android etc.) the latter are the ones communicated to the public, the former, well… Who cares, outside of nerds and specialists who will ALWAYS recognise Tux one way or another ? Reply
