Can you morons please stop printing nonsense? Nvnidia sells a license to Palit. Palit designs a PCB based on Nvidia architecture, receives Nvidia chip, Palit tools up production for rtx 3060 12gb, Nvidia validates bios for cards…. Much of this occurred once, and as long as Nvidia signs off on it… They could easily do it again and use chips that have been sitting in storage. Eximo This just happens to be a not-so-great price. I imagine the GDDR is a big part of the BOM cost, but this card used to be sub $300. And annoyingly there are STILL some new old stock selling for $10 under this new MSRP. What is truly annoying, same price as the 5060. So, aside from a few edge cases, they are basically catering to AI demand still. I'm all for older cards sticking around. I generally like to have a low power card in one of my systems. Currently an A380, but previously it has been a GT1030, GTX950, GTX750Ti, and so on. But, you aren't getting anything particularly special with a re-issued 3060. It isn't that low power, it isn't that small, so for most gaming and media use cases, 5060 makes more sense. Reply

An RTX 5050 9GB limited to 70-75W would be a great replacement for the 3050 6GB (70W), which sells for over $200 easily for low profile versions. The 96-bit bus should improve efficiency. But the rumors had it at the same 130W TBP as the 5050 8GB, and now it's supposedly cancelled or indefinitely delayed. So the segment continues to suffer neglect. Maybe they'll make workstation versions with 9 GB or 18 GB on 96-bit instead. On that note, even the uninspiring 5050 8GB outperformed the 3060 12GB in Tom's testing at 1080p (but not 1440p), and the 5050 9GB (130W) would have had a bigger lead. Reply

Maybe the article could have detailed the supply chain more, but I didn't find that necessary. nVidia apparently worked with their AIB partners, both sides apparently deciding the opportunity was worthwhile (at least one of them so far, anyways). Digressing… I do find Palit's "OC" claim as marketing B.S. as a 15 MHz core clock boost is really just a mouse fart. "Since this is an overclocked variant, it can boost up to 1,792 MHz, which is less than 1% higher than the base 1,777 MHz boost that Nvidia already mandates." Reply
Eximo But it is more than stock, so it gets the OC badge. They are all like that. Also means next to nothing with GPU boost. Ambient temperature and airflow will make a bigger difference than that. Reply
