bigdragon I find it crazy how much the RTX 3090 has appreciated in value over time. I seriously do not see an upgrade path from it given Nvidia's absurd pricing and unsafe power connectors. The article's subject's neighbor probably hasn't realized that graphics components from 2 generations ago still have absurd value in today's crazy market — something that didn't use to be the case. HighwayMenace Certainly lucky, and a good PC for a newbie, but these price comps are absurd. You’re comparing what it would take to get this generations version of a couple generations old machine. You should be comparing it to the equivalent power today. In which case, you could buy all these parts for well under $1000 and make the same PC. A 3090 is the same as a 5070 ti? Hardly. Even the AMD 9060xt is far more powerful and capable and you get one for a couple hundred dollars. The cpu is obsolete and equivalent would be maybe 200, with the motherboard included. Like is said, a great free machine, but a far cry from $1500. Reply

Even if the 3090 had its TDP lowered to match the 9060xt it’s still faster. In modern performance terms a 3090 is ever so slightly behind a 5070 and 9070 at 1440p and equal to slightly faster at 4k. Dementoss Somebody seems to have been given a graphics card, not exactly a major news story. Added to which, Reddit is not the last bastion of truth online. Reply
