bigdragon PA residents are starting to feel the higher utility costs that MD and VA residents have been dealing with. Data center developers and AI firms have positioned this build out of compute infrastructure like some sort of modern space race. However, this isn't about national pride or technological supremacy against the Soviet Union — this is about chasing commercial profits for a handful of ultra wealthy individuals who want to monetize every aspect of human knowledge and creativity. In nearly all cases the cost of building the infrastructure necessary to power these projects is also paid for by consumers. No wonder the rush is on to build as many as possible before the regulators step in. Make noise, people. Lots of it Everywhere costs are being passed on to consumers. Water to cool the computers is sent through a straight to waste system. Nearly perfectly drinkable/potable water made to be cleaned again just so they can cool their computers. Consumers pay for this in the form of higher water bills. Reply
