Prebuilt PC's seem to be taking up some of the slack of the monstrous AI-buildout prices, but the other unsung hero in the current climate is the gaming laptop. If you can find one on sale with decent specs, then that's another serious option to consider for your PC gaming needs. Walmart has listed the MSI Katana 15 HX (2025) for $1,299 , slicing $200 from the original $1,499 price of this sharp gaming laptop.
This MSI gaming laptop packs Intel's Core i7-14650HX processor along with an Nvidia RTX 5070 dedicated graphics processor with 8GB of superfast GDDR7 VRAM. Other specs of the MSI Katana 15 HX include 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a compact 15.6-inch IPS screen with a tight QHD resolution and fast 165Hz refresh rate. The gamer aesthetic is catered to with a 4-zone RGB illuminated keyboard and a sleek black finish. Weighing only 4.29lbs, this laptop won't be a strain to transport if you want to take your gaming on the move.

We've reviewed the MSI Katana 15 HX , but it's a less powerful version than the one currently on sale. Our review model contained an RTX 5050 graphics processor, which can't compete with the RTX 5070 in gaming performance. However, the same Intel Core i7-14650HX CPU is used, as well as the chassis of the laptop, and the RGB 4-zone keyboard. The laptop is fairly priced for the specs and has room for upgrades to the RAM and storage capacities if desired. We liked the amount of upgradeability and repair options for the Katana 15 HX and RGB keyboard, but weren't overly impressed with the 720p webcam, keyboard heat during use, and a slightly dim display.
