SonoraTechnical Microsoft lost it's mojo in the consumer space a long time ago… I think XBox, Surface, Office, and Windows are the only branding exercise that have stuck long-term throughout the years…. They've killed Zune, Skype, Kinect, Cortana, Windows Phone , Bob, Kin, Internet Explorer, Grove Music, Yammer… just to name a few… and now CoPilot. Reply
Math Geek They're not killing Copilot. People don't want it and are avoiding it. So you take the name off the box and sneak it in instead. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED!!! Reply

Pretty much – Microsoft has already announced that Windows 12 will be agentic and all of that. It could be that they will change course. But it is unlikely. Copilot is gaining ninja status. But Copilot will remain everywhere pretty much the same. Ninja vanish. Reply
ravewulf With them officially allowing people to remap the Copilot key and now the shift away from Copilot+ branding, I really hope we see them ditch the Copilot key next. I don't expect it to happen overnight, though. Reply

Only that they have a penchant for going all in on something… and then quietly dropping it…. And yes, of course, all big companies do that to a degree. However, I do feel their focus on big data will continue to erode their efforts in the consumer spaces and it's associated branding… Opposite of big companies like Apple and Samsung who thrive on consumer facing branding… Just pointing to a shift… I used the term loosing their mojo… and yes, I stick by that… because if these efforts were properly executed, they'd survive…. but they've just lost the ability to sell consumers on ideas as strongly as they did years back. Then I saw Joe Belfiore, with the hair, pull out his I-Phone on stage at an MS developer's conference…. and thought… you son-of-a-beep… :p Azure really signaled the true retreat to the BackOffice….
