hotaru251 kind of a stupid demand to try and ban its use from electronics. LM has been used for a long time now & the issues are extremely rare….and its more at fault of a single few people. (i.e. asus as this posts prior claims seem to point out specifically) Blame the people designing the mixture and barriers not the LM itself. Reply

silversonic1 The mixture seems like the kind of mistake a chemistry student would make. "It sticks better, but it's corrosive" isn't something that should be applied to a computer. ASUS should honestly be held accountable for this and needs to make this right. They essentially built a self-destruct system into the computer. And, no. I am not against Liquid Metal. I am against using a corrosive substance in a computer without ensuring it won't destroy the system. Reply

habermas The laptop in question is a Zephyrus M16 model from 2022 with an Intel Core i9-12900H processor that was bought just over three years ago. During this period, the laptop was mostly used for lightweight tasks instead of gaming or anything that'd stress it. An i9-12900H CPU "mostly used for light weight tasks" for three years. Talk about overkill. Perhaps this was all caused by the some of the 14 idle cores nearly dying of boredom and yearning to break free. Reply

P1nky What is this CPU lid you keep referring to? In my 20+ years of never heard of such a thing. Laptops are direct-die cooled by the heatsinks. AI slop and editor sleeping on the job? Reply

circadia this is nothing new, (gaming) laptop enthusiast spaces have stopped recommending any ASUS laptops at all for at least 3 or 4 years already, due to ASUS' poor build quality or quality control (as already seen in the article), warranty, numerous issues that they have refused to fix (including their liquid metal application), and so on. Reply
