Sandisk's rebranded Optimus SSDs now available at eye-watering $999 for 2TB, $1,799 for 4TB — Optimus brings a 5% MSRP over previous models, but WD Black predec

For example, the Optimus GX Pro 8100 4TB sells for $1,799 on Sandisk and $ 1,949 on Amazon. The WD Black SN8100 4TB is available for $1,289 on Sandisk, up to 34% less expensive than the rebranded version. However, the same drive is available from other retailers, such as Newegg, for $859, saving you about 33% from Sandisk.

Consumer SSD prices have surged by up to 50% since late 2025. Industry projections imply that NAND pricing will continue to rise throughout the first quarter of this year. The current inventory, with SSDs already overpriced, likely reflects older pricing, so newly manufactured drives will likely carry an even higher price tag.

DingusDog Wish I'd bought an 850x 8TB when they were around $500-600. Glad I got a P510 2TB for $130 and 850x 2TB for $150 last year. These prices are insane. Reply

Shiznizzle People are hoovering up Crucial P310 on Amazon.co.uk, with the most terrible TBW i care to see. 220 TBW for the 1 TB. 2k bought the last month. They look at the speed of the thing and that is all is my guess. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/ssds/crucial-p310-2280-ssd-review Reply

Shiznizzle USAFRet said: And do what with that? Not buy anything Micron is what i plan on doing. I wont forget that they chose profit over us consumers. I dont care that their shareholders demand that their CEO goes after profit above all. They made their choice. They can change name. Wont matter. Micron is dead to me. I dont have to pick Micron. There is SK Hynix and Samsung and soon to be a 4th player in china. In 3 years time that chinese player comes online with enough capacity to force others to adjust their prices. Most of the stuff we buy is made in china/taiwan anyway so what difference does now a stick of DDR5 make? Reply
