warezme I just saw an expose on the ASML EUV development from it's origins and it is a technical wonder it even works at all. It is so complicated an accurate it becomes easy to understand why the Chinese or really any other country would have such a hard time developing a similar or competitive technology. This is one of those area where frontier AI would be actually useful in tackling. Reply

AI is not a magic 8 ball: the solution to this doesn't exist anywhere on the internet or in an available training set. Any answer would need to be evaluated and independently verified, then engineered. That would still be years and maybe not faster than doing without. The most recent version of this out of the AI companies was $20 million in credits and still questionable provenance that maybe they coopted someone's work during training. Reply

hwertz Yeah no kidding ASML isn't interested. The tech they haver is amazing and complex, but they've got it fully developed and working so they have no reason to go into a program that will cost $billions, take a decade, and also end up with complex and expensive machinery. 'This is one of those area where frontier AI would be actually useful in tackling. ' I'm thinking 'no'. This isn't a problem for scientific reasoning (frontier or not), it's an engineering problem and I think will involve more messing about in meat space than theoretical modelling. Reply

Please tell us why you believe frontier AI would help to solve something that is entirely a physical engineering issue of mass production and cost reduction at scale and not an abstract theoretical problem. Finding engineering efficiencies in physical, large scale industrial systems is not known to be one of AI's strong suits. Reply
